Pumpkin plant

About two weeks ago, Miles came home from preschool with a small plastic cup filled with soil. He said their craft that day was planting a pumpkin seed. Being a good Mom, I dutifully put it on the table by the window, inbetween the only other living plants in the house. I didn't actually expect anything to come of it, but I still watered it every time I watered the other two plants. Low and behold, it actually sprouted today! Now let's see if we can keep it alive and actually grow it into a real plant.

Birthday present

Mike and I just recently got back in town from a night away. My mother-in-law came down to watch the kids and for my birthday Mike took me away to the city for a wonderful dinner and then we saw the show Jersey Boys!! The show was amazing, wonderful and very entertaining. The dinner was delicious. We stayed in a beautiful hotel and just had a perfect date night.

Beautiful day, part 2

Today was another beautiful day. I just can't believe it is November! Miles and Quincy wanted to go back to the same park today that we were at yesterday. So off we went this morning and had a great morning at the park.

Beautiful day

This past week has been mostly cold weather, yesterday morning we woke up to frost on the ground. Today though, it was in the high 70s, sunny and just a beautiful day. Here are a few pics of the boys at one of the local parks.

First Miles did some fishing, the plan was for Quincy and I to play at the playground while Miles and Mike fished, but Quincy did not want to leave the fishing.

Then over to the playground equipment. Lots of climbing and sliding

Quincy just loved climbing on this thing, he spent quite a bit of time on it, and kept going back to it between sliding.

This is the bottom of a good size spiral slide. I didn't think Quincy could do it himself, and Miles didn't want to do it himself, so here I am going down with both of them. Turns out, Quincy had no problem going down by himself. He went down many times, and many different ways - on purpose. He loved it and loved the thrill of doing it different ways. After Quincy had done it on his own a few times, Mike 'helped' Miles go down on his own, then Miles decided he liked it better that way too. Unfortunatley the camera battery died before then, so no pictures of Miles doing this slide himself.

New sweaters

The boys and I went outside to play in somewhat dreary weather the other day. We just received these adorable sweater and hat sets from my Mother-in-Law (she knit them herself), so I figured it was a great chance to try out the sweaters and hats. Miles was actually excited to try on and wear this new set. I brought my camera out to get a few pics of the boys to email out, but got a bunch of pretty cute pictures, so I am sharing them here for everyone to see.

Miles stomping through puddles. The sweater and hat are cute, and cute on him. The rest of the outfit however he chose all by himself, so hence the mish mosh look. But hey, we were just out playing in puddles and around the neighborhood.
We go on a walk many times a week. I give Miles the choice of wagon, bike or walking. He always choses the wagon, and only rides in it for the first 10 steps of the walk, then he gets out and walks, plays in puddles, pushes the wagon, and pulls the wagon. Quincy absolutely loves it when Miles pushes or pulls the wagon, apparently it is a much better ride when your big brother is helping.
Quincy can climb up the ladder by himself now, and this is how he choses to go down the slide, every time. It is a great way to clean the slide. Not so great for the front of his pants. Especially after rain, like in this picture.

And, this pic. He is just so darn cute.

Apple picking song

I was uploading some more pictures the other day and found this little video from our trip to the apple orchard. It's Miles, singing his (very short) apple picking song. And, by the way, this is about the average length of one of his songs. Short and sweet.
