Dinner at the Beach

Some friends invited us to join them and a group of friends for dinner on the beach last night. At this beach we can build a campfire, so that was their plan, build a fire and cook dinner right on the beach. It was great. Their were lots of kids, of all ages, and they all got along great. The kids love going to the beach at any time, but something about being there at night seems extra special. We got there as most people were leaving, so the kids had much more freedom to run and play.

Quincy wanted to spend most of the time playing in the water:When he wasn't in the water he was eating fruit, his dinner consisted of melons and grapes.

Miles spent all of his time playing with other kids, he especially loved playing with the bigger kids:He ate potato chips almost exclusively for dinner. With a few cucumber slices to make Mom happy. This was a night for fun, not healthy eating. Us adults ate well. Seafood, guacamole, and two tables full of lots of great food.

The lifeguards were no longer on duty, and the lifeguard tower became entertainment for quite some time:

And one of the kids favorite parts of going to the beach at night, chasing and catching ghost crabs:
We had cranky kids for much of today, but it was well worth the fun night we all had.
