Visit with Grandma

My Mom came to visit for the last few days. She was only able to be here for a couple of days, but we loved having her here, and had lots of fun in those couple of days. We went to a couple of parks on Thursday and to the beach on Friday. The boys are exhausted from playing so much, and they were sad to see Grandma go.
Here is Quincy, he just watched Grandma the entire time she was drying her hair.

Assistant GPS

Yesterday we had to take a trip that we used the GPS to help us navigate. For the first half hour of the drive, all of the directions were echoed from the back seat. And not only echoed. Each time the GPS told us to turn, Miles would reinforce it until we made the turn. "Daddy turn right" Daddy don't forget to turn right" Daddy you need to turn right." Of course sometimes Miles apparently did not hear all of the directions. As in "at the end of the street." If we listened to Miles we would have ended up in a few fields.

Another beach day

Today was a beautiful day. It rained most of the rest of the week, so we took advantage and headed out to the beach. There was not a cloud in the sky, and very few people on the beach. I really do enjoy the beach this time of year. The wooden play structures were back up for the kids to play in, so Miles was even happier to be at the beach. Quincy was interested in the sand, and seemed to like walking in it, he kept pulling me all over the place.
Here is Miles playing in the plane, he is pretending to be the pilot, and waving to all of his fans!

Heres Quincy, chewing on the sand toys, which is all he thought they were good for:

And here he is after he realized there was sand on his fingers:

Cowboys

The boys recently got a hobby horse, and shortly thereafter, Miles got a cowboy hat. This horse has been a great source of enjoyment for both of the boys, but mostly Miles. He loves to play cowboy, so now having a horse and real cowboy hat is just too cool for him.

Here is cowboy Quincy:
And cowboy Miles:

Of course, a cowboy needs a hat, cowboy boots, and a rope. Here is cowboy Miles swinging his rope, winding up to catch something...

his brother. Isn't that what little brothers are for?!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to everyone, I hope you are all having a blessed day with family and loved ones. Both boys were up extra early this morning. Oh the joys of a holiday. Miles was very excited to find his Easter basket and to find it full of treats and a new train (Percy from the Thomas series). Miles was also excited to find the new walker toy that the Easter Bunny left for Quincy, which Miles thinks is his. Then it was outside looking for the eggs we decorated that the Easter Bunny hide in the back yard. It is the one time a year that Miles gets to go outside in his pjs, which he thinks is just so very neat.Of course chocolate candy has been eaten from about 6am and throughout all of the morning fun.

And in true holiday fashion now that we have two kids, they are fighting over their new toys. I was in the other room and started to hear a light 'whack, whack,' followed by Quincy crying. Not the "I'm hurt" cry, but the annoyed/frustrated cry. The whacking sound and crying continued, so in I head to see what is going on. And there I find Miles sitting on his knees with Quincy on all fours, his head in front of Miles knees, and Miles whacking Quincy on the head, Quincy reaching for Miles new Percy train. In Quincy's defense, Miles had put his new train in Quincy's new walker. And of course Miles saw nothing wrong with hitting his baby brother over the head, repeatedly, for the unthinkable offense of trying to get his new toy. Luckily, the whacking was very light and clearly not hurting Quincy. Oh the joys of a holiday! And yes, I was a good Mom and saved the baby instead of first getting the camera for a picture.

Easter Eggs

We dyed the Easter eggs this morning. Miles, as usual, had fun. Quincy got to watch. Quincy loves to watch Mike, as you can see above. Miles seemed to be working hard to get his eggs just right, and then make the transfer out of the dye. And here he is having fun playing with the dye.

And here he is enjoying one of his easter cookies while checking out his eggs. And there is Quincy eating his sleeve and wishing he had a cookie.

Easter cookies

We made Easter cookies today. Well, mostly Mike and Miles made them, I helped a bit and spent most of the time chasing after Quincy. Miles had fun cutting out the cookies, and was looking forward to decorating the cookies all afternoon. He got to decorate three cookies total, in two separate attempts. But apparently it wasn't decorating he was looking forward to as much as eating the cookie frosting. We first caught him eating it out of the frosting bowl by scoopfuls, then later with his fingers. His cookies also had some bites taken out of them. I must say though, his three cookies have about half of all the frosting on them, they are coated very thick. And here is a photo of the finished product. Can you guees which ones are Miles'? There are two of his visible in this photo, the two on the top left that are dripping with frosting.

Piano playing

Quincy has really started to enjoy playing Mike's piano. If he is on our lap while we are on the computer, he will reach over towards the piano, and once he gets near the piano he will bang on the top until we open the lid for him to play.

Crawling!

Quincy has finally figured out how to crawl up on his hands and knees. He first did it Wednesday evening, and over the past few days has gone from doing it a little bit here and there to now crawling most of the time.

Here is a very short video clip of him crawling. He is a bit of a ham for the camera, as soon as he sees the camera he will face it/go towards it/smile for the camera. So I was trying to video him crawling towards Miles' train tracks, but, as you will see, Q veered off towards me as soon as he saw the camera. Also of interest in this video clip is the co-star, Miles, who is concerned about his foot that he hurt when he bumped it against his train track...

New teeth

Finally, here is a picture of Quincy's first two teeth. I do believe he has a few more that are ready to pop through any time now. These are rather small, so if you actually want to see the teeth, you'll have to click on the picture to make it bigger. But for now, here is Q's smile:

Sick baby

Quincy seems to have come down with a cold. Just a stuffy/runny nose, and now a little cough, but still, it's tough to see the little guy not feeling well. At least he still likes the nose syringe thing, he giggles everytime I use it in his nose!
