Pumpkin Patch - family trip

We took a family trip to the pumpkin patch yesterday to pick out our pumpkins. Miles wanted to get one that he could pick up and carry. He started with the biggest ones, and tried just about every size until he finally settled upon the smallest he could find. In his words, he wanted "the smallest one of all."

Umm, I think that is just too big for him:
A bit more reasonable size:

Getting smaller
Here is one he can pick up, we thought this was the one

But here it is, the smallest one of all:
And here is what Quincy was doing the whole time:

Brothers

Quincy loves being around and watching his big brother. Here are some pics of them this morning, with Miles 'reading' to Quincy.
And Quincy just looking around:

Miles' moments

Yesterday, all day, Miles would say to me "okie donkey Mommy." (His attempt at okie dokie.) At one point he said this, followed by "like donkey on Shrek."

This morning after getting dressed (in a skeleton t-shirt), "I'm so stylish."

Zoo

Yesterday we took the kids to the big zoo. We drove to the metro station and took the train into the city. The train and going in the 'tunnels' (underground) was a huge hit for the kids. Other big hits were the elephants, tigers, snakes, monkeys, and, of course, squirrels and pigeons. It was a lot of walking, and a lot of fun.
Getting to touch and feel a dinosaur's skeleton head and teeth:

Here is Miles trying to touch this giant fish:

And some tired Dads pushing some tired kids (uphill) at the end of the day:

Miles, and another smile

And here are some pics of Miles with the new camera. Here he is lounging on the couch this morning.

And here is one using one of the cool features of the camera:

New camera, 1st smile pic

Yea! Our new camera arrived today, and so far I am really impressed with it. Here are a couple of pictures of Quincy with the new camera. No pics of Miles yet, he was running around naked after bath time when we were playing with the camera, so those pics got erased.

Here is Quincy not so happy:

And here he is about 10 minutes later after eating:

Yup, this is the first picture of him smiling! I was holding him and taking the picture, so I couldn't play with him to get a real big smile. Hopefully I can do some of that tomorrow.

And here he is sleeping peacefully.

Dog biscuits

Apparently they are quite tasty. Good enough to eat a whole one fairly quickly. Miles got into them and ate one while I was in the office for a few minutes. Good thing he is honest, since I wouldn't have even known about it if he had not told me. There weren't even any crumbs left.

Grrr

So I have no camera, right. This morning Quincy is smiling up a storm and looking just cuter than ever. And I have no camera to take a picture with!!! I may have to try to find my old film camera so I can at least try to capture these adorable smiles.

And on another note. I just opened a new mega box of diapers (192 count) this week, and now I am pretty sure that Quincy is too big for them. He has had poo leak all over me two days in a row now. ick.

No Pictures

I apologize for the lack of pictures this week. Unfortunately, there will probably be no pictures next week either. Our camera broke last weekend, so we haven't been able to take any pictures. This has been a busy week, so it took me a little while to narrow done which new camera I wanted. But I just ordered it earlier this morning, so it should be to our house sometime next week. Then, hopefully I can make up for the lack of pics since I will be having fun playing with my new camera!

2 month check-up

Quincy had his 2 month check-up today, and as expected he is doing great. He is a little chunky monkey though. His stats: weight 14.1 lbs (95%), height 22 1/2 in.(50%), and head 16 in. (50%).

I am so thankful

We went a childrens hospital yesterday for Miles to see a specialist since he is on the bottom of the height chart. This was our pediatricians idea. Miles is fine, the specialist wants us to come back in 6 months and again in a year for a height check, and then will run tests if Miles hasn't grown enough in that time. But he doesn't expect any problems.

While we were at the childrens hospital, we saw all sorts of other children that were also there, but many of whom had many more needs than my kids. All of our children are just so special, I just hugged mine extra close and said a prayer of thanks to have my children and have them home with me.

Tired boys

This is what I just found when I came in from the kitchen. I was wondering why it was so quiet while I was making dinner.

Tumbling, week 2

Okay, so Miles had his second tumbling class this morning. All week he kept asking about tumbling class, and was all excited to go again. Well, this morning at breakfast Mike asked him if he was going to tumble, to which Miles gave a very firm "no." After a bit of discussion, I tried the bribery method, even let him pick out his treat if he were to tumble and behave in class. He wanted cookies, so we agreed that if he behaved and tumbled in class, that we would stop at the store after class and he could pick out some cookies.

Didn't work.

He did behave better during class, and only cried a couple of times and the crying didn't last long. But no tumbling. He watched the teacher and other kids more this week, so all in all, I think there was progress. Of course, once we got in the van to go home, he asked to go to the store to get cookies. I gently reminded him that although he behaved much better, he did not do any tumbling, and that was the deal, so no cookies. We'll see how next time goes.
