Get Fit week 12

I've completely given up on trying to cut junk food out of my diet. I know, not good. One week left of our 90 day workout program, and I am really looking forward to a break. Then, if for no other reason, I get to sleep in past 5am.

Rainy day

It was a rainy day today, so the kids and I went over to the mall so Miles could play in the play area there. And Miles picked out his favorite outfit to wear, which happened to fit in quite well with the play area's chicken farm theme. We got there early, and before anyone else, so Quincy got a chance to play a bit. Here are a few pics from this morning:

The Quincy crawl

Here is a video clip of Quincy's current form of crawling. He still isn't crawling up on hands and knees, most of the time it is most like an army crawl. But he sure is trying to figure it out, and he is getting better and faster at his style of movement.

First Tooth!

Finally, Quincy has his first tooth! This morning we saw a tiny bit of white on his bottom gum, and I felt the little ridges, I wasn't sure if it was through, or getting ready to come through. As of lunch, the tooth is definitely there. I'd post a picture, but the tooth is too small to show up in a picture...

This week was better than last week. I only missed a couple of workouts, but had a few desserts and treats. But all of my clothes are loose and big on me!

Going backwards

Quincy is still doing great at moving himself backwards, even if he doesn't mean to. He sometimes plays in front of Miles play tent, and suddenly is in hiding.

Starting to back into the tent:

Hey! What happened? Where am I?

Brothers

These two are starting to play together a bit more, it's mostly still playing side-by-side on a good day, and stealing toys from each other the rest of the time. But the together play still warms my heart.

Standing

Quincy has been standing while holding on to our hands, for a long time, but he has always been very wobbly and we needed to basically support him. Not so anymore! This morning he surprised me by standing up at his toy - holding onto it of course - but standing very stable and playing with the buttons on the toy! (Don't mind the messy, wet hair and shirt, we had just finished lunch, and he had gotten lunch all over his face, hair and under the bib!)

Seriously!?

It is snowing out right now. Less than two weeks ago we had a decent size snowstorm (or what qualifies for one around here). This past weekend was in the 70s, shorts, sandals and beach weather. And now snow, again.

Get Fit week 10

Welllll, this week was not such a good week for getting fit. We both ate pretty bad in the first half of the week. Mike was good about working out all week. I worked out this morning. I had a tough time adjusting to the time change this week, and since we do our workouts at the crack of dawn (no offense Dawn!), I had trouble getting out of bed and then even more trouble cooperating with the workout routines. But I was up this morning and back on track. Just in time for our day off tomorrow :)

But on a good note, this morning I found that I had to tighten the belt loop one more notch, so it must not have been that bad of a week.

Trying to crawl

Quincy is still trying to crawl. He can move and get to things that are nearby to him, but he is either turning in circles or doing a modified army-style crawl. More like a caterpillar wiggle. He can't seem to figure out to move his arms forward while he is up on his hands and knees. He is good about trying different things, now he is getting up on his toes and hands, and trying to move his feet forward, which of course only launches him forward and down since he is not moving his hands. He does sometimes get to the toy he wants by doing it this way, but he usually lands on the toy with his face.

Kisses and Momma

In the last couple of weeks I've started to notice that Quincy is trying to give me kisses. He grabs my cheeks and brings our faces together, with his mouth wide open, aiming for my mouth! He will sometimes even kiss me if I ask for a kiss, but only if he is not being distracted by anything else. He has done it enough times now that I can confidently say it is not a coincidence. He has even given Mike a few kisses.

He also is saying Momma! At first it was only when he was crying, and again it took me a while to realize that he may be saying it purposefully. A few days ago he was playing in his excersaucer and just making some random vocal noises, not crying, and said, clear as day, Momma. I came running and told him I heard him say Momma. He then gave me the biggest smile ever!

Nice weather again

We had beautiful weather today, and spent lots of time outside with the kids. Really, Mike and Quincy did enjoy going for a walk, in fact, the walk was Mike's idea. And to think I sometimes wonder where Quincy gets his scowls from.
And here is Quincy swinging, I put him in his swing for the first time yesterday and he was laughing and having a ball. Miles was a bit put off, because he still tries to squeeze himself into the baby swing. But Miles had fun on the other two swings, so quickly forgot to be upset.
A little shoulder ride, at first Quincy didn't know what to think, then he settled in and started gnawing on Mike's head. And Miles in his sandbox, still loving to bury himself in sand...

Get Fit week 9

I slept through the alarm this morning, but luckily Mike woke me up to see if I was still going to work out. Thanks honey, I think. The workouts went well this week, but we got the Wii and Wii fit this week and have been having fun playing the games. And I am now very sore. This mornings workout was very tough. Between Wii in the evenings and workouts in the mornings, I am in pretty sad shape!

What a look

I think Quincy understands much more than I expect of a 6 month old baby. Miles and I were each eating a chocolate chip cookie in front of Quincy. This is the look he gave Miles and I the entire time we were eating our cookies. Most of the time he was looking at the cookies with this scowl on his face.

Snow day

We got a few inches of snow overnight, and it is still snowing a bit now. Miles is super excited to have snow to play in. All four of us went out this morning playing in the snow.
Here is Miles trying to slide - mostly just pushing snow down the slide.

And Quincy collecting snowflakes on his eyelashes:
Then we were joined by some friends.

The kids tried to build a snowman, but it just wasn't good sticking snow. Here is about the smallest snowman I've ever seen. Look for the tiny orange carrot sticking out of the snow, then you may be able to make out the small snow mounds that make up this snowman.

And of course, a break for hot cocoa with whipped cream and some chocolate chip cookies:
The Dads have just taken the kids to go sledding, while Quincy warms up and gets something to eat. I'm sure there will be some fun sledding stories by lunchtime! I hope everyone is having a great snow day!

A meltdown

I did something to upset Miles yesterday after naptime. And I was fortunate enough to have my camera in my hands while he proceeded to have a meltdown. I'm sure taking pictures of him while he was crying didn't make him any happier.
