Some of the tours were very interesting and informative- but geared for older kids and adults. We got to tour the actual facilities where the rockets and scientific balloons are made and where some of the parts are tested. Mike and I learned some new things, and the kids got to see some scientific balloons and, the highlight, real rockets.
They had other exhibits and areas that were geared towards younger children, which of course was where we spent much of our time. One of the kid favorites was a ginormous spaceship themed inflatable slide that Miles was excited for, and brave enough to climb to the top and slide down. All by himself. He was grinning ear to ear once he got down, and you could just feel the pride he had in himself.
Next we headed over to the viewing grounds for the airstrips. There was an air show in the area, and the military jets were all taking off and landing at the NASA airstrips. Here is Miles with his ear plugs while we are waiting for one of the jets to take off.
There was a flight support fire truck available to check out - of which Miles took full advantage:
A jet flew by while he was in the drivers seat - and he had a great view of the jet:
A rocket out for display - Miles was checking to see if the point was 'pointy' - he said it wasn't.
The end of the day:
Oh and a couple of last pics of some pictures of the boys - as astronauts:
