Ugh...allergies or sick?!
I feel like crud this morning. I woke up a couple of days ago with a slightly scratchy throat and feeling a bit tired. Yesterday the scratchy throat was gone, but I felt congested and by evening I had a hoarse voice. This morning I have the stuffed head, scratchy throat, runny nose, tired, and just general ick feeling. Hopefully it is just allergies and will go away quickly. It is just too nice outside to feel like this!

My belly pics are porn?!?
Yep, they may be. So the other day I decided to put a hit counter on this blog to get an idea of how many hits I am getting. That hit counter came with a stat history that I can check and see what paths visitors are using to get to my site. So if you come to my blog via a search engine, this stat thing will tell me what was typed in to be searched. Well, when I checked either yesterday or today I saw that someone from Germany had visited, I found that interesting enough by itself, and then I saw their path. It searched for belly pics and porn. And they got me. And my big ol' preggo belly. Does that mean I have done porn? And what type of hits am I going to get now that I have actually said porn in my blog?! Oh, and I don't even want to know what kind of porn this person was actually looking for with belly pics!

One Week and counting...
Miles has been wearing regular underwear for one week now. Other than his first day, he has been doing great. Of course, there have been a few accidents in the past week, but a few in a week is a lot less than I expected! And, he has woken up from just about every nap with a dry pull-up, and he has woken up almost every morning with a dry or nearly dry diaper. That is completely unexpected, as we did not even say anything to him about trying not to go while he was sleeping.
He is just so proud of being a big boy.
He seems just about ready to give up sippy cups, he doesn't use the lid at the table anymore, and just this morning he was asking for no lid while we were out running errands and playing in the mall playarea. I'm not so sure that I am ready for him to give up sippy cups, but I guess he has to at some point!

Busy weekend so far
On Friday night we went to see a baseball game at our local stadium with the local minor league team. Miles loves baseball, so he was very excited to watch the men playing. The baseball game was quickly forgotten when he saw the carousel, and he wanted to go on a horsey ride. So after a ride on one of the horses of the carousel, and walking around the rest of the kid section, we found our way back to sitting and watching the game. Miles thought it was great when it got dark out and he was still up. Then came the fireworks after the game. He seemed a bit scared of them, but couldn't keep his eyes off the sky! Although the final big booms had Miles giving his Dad a very long hug. On the way home Miles thought since it was dark then he should be "fast asleep," and he pretended to be fast asleep on the ride home. Somehow, he didn't actually fall asleep. All morning all he could talk about was fireworks at the baseball park.
Today we took in a concert that took place in our downtown area. We brought a blanket and had a picnic lunch. It was very unique and geared towards the Memorial Day weekend. It was the Federal City Brass Band. This is a band that re-creates the sound and appearance of a Union Army regimental brass band of the 1860s. All of the instruments were original to the mid-19th century, and they played music that came from original band journals and sheet music of the Civil War era. The band members came around and talked to members of the audience prior to the performance. Miles was enthralled by the large tubas, and loved that he got to see one up close. The band members were very pleasant, knowledgeable and the concert was excellent. Miles had a couple of friends that were also at the concert, and the kids had just as much fun running around and chasing each other as they did watching the concert. But, as good children of musicians that they are, they generally stopped what they were doing and clapped when a song ended (and the heard other people clapping.)
So far it has been a (tiring) fun weekend. Miles went to bed very late on Friday night, and he missed his nap today. Unfortunately, this evening he was the only one in the house that was not tired!

My current favorite thing to hear...
Peepee coming! We have started potty training, and so far with mixed results! Last week Miles got to pick out a new potty seat and some pull-ups. He did fairly well with the pull-ups, he at least went on the potty when we brought him there, and liked being a big boy. So this week he got to pick out his very own underwear! He is very proud of his Mickey Mouse underwear and likes to wear them and look at himself in the mirror in them! His first full day, Wednesday, we went through many pairs of underwear and shorts and did a lot of cleaning! But, each time he went he seemed to learn a little bit. Yesterday, day 2, he went the whole day with no accidents! Even at the park and zoo! He got to use a port-a-potty for the first time. All day he told me "peepee coming" and did not go until he was sitting on the potty. I am very proud of my little man, and he is very proud of himself. I have no idea how today will be, but I am hopeful. I do not want to jinx him or myself and think that we are even close to done! I am sure we have a lot of good and bad days ahead of us. Of course, we still have night time to worry about, and I don't have a clue how to go about that yet.

Third Trimester...belly photos
Well I am now 27 weeks, which puts me into my third trimester. Only 3 months (or so) to go until the newest member of our family arrives!! Part of me is surprised at how quick the last 6 months have gone, and the rest of me can't accept that I still have 3 long months left to go. I feel like my belly is much bigger this time around than with Miles, but everyone else says I look about the same. Poor Miles is still trying to sit on my lap, especially to read books. He can sit there, but he keeps sliding off. I try to have him sit on my knee sideways, but he doesn't want anything to do with that, he wants to sit and lean back into me.
Miles knows that his baby brother is in my belly, he will give the belly hugs and kisses and say hello to 'baby brother.' But he thinks the baby is in the belly button, not the whole belly! He only kisses the belly button and talks right into the belly button. And he tells me "baby brother in mommy's belly button." He has asked a few times when baby brother is going to come out. Hopefully he will be just as loving to the baby when the baby comes home.

It's official
I just received an email from my state paralegal association that I officially passed the national paralegal exam that I took in early April!! I had received preliminary results at the time of the exam, but had to wait for the exam board to review my results and give the official word. So I am now a registered paralegal. The exam is called PACE, Paralegal Advanced Compentency Exam, it is a big deal in the paralegal industry, it is one of two that is administered nationwide. You have to meet requirements to sit for the test, and it tests for the entire paralegal field, regardless of specialties or jurisdiction. So, what it means, is that I can now use the initials, RP after my name in professional correspondence, letterhead, business cards, etc., and, more importantly, it means that lawyers and other paralegals know that I have the knowledge and ability to be a paralegal based on a national standard. I'm not one to pat myself on the back much, but I am very excited about this, so I wanted to share!

Here I am
Well, I decided to try this new blog-thing. It seems like a good way to keep family and friends up-to-date with what is happening in our life. This is all new to me, and I have to learn how it all works, so bear with me as I figure it all out. My goal is to post regularly and to try to post things you may actually want to read about.
Miles is napping right now. He chatted and played in bed for about a half and hour before he became quiet and (I presume) he fell asleep. I had hoped to tire him out this morning with our trip out to go strawberry picking. But he mostly just sat and ate strawberries! He did get up and move from spot to spot to find more strawberries. And he did eat more than just strawberries, I know I heard the crunch of sand a few times. Once he told me he was going to eat a bug, I told him not to, but I honestly have no idea if he ate the bug or not!
